Europe’s largest portable school building to Lahti

We’ve made a contract with Lahti city of Mukkula School building that will consist of over 6000 square meters. The two-storey building will have a pre-school, elementary school and a dental clinic. The building will be at its place and ready for pupils in the end of September.

– To our knowledge the Mukkula School will be Europe’s largest movable and loaned school building, says Mikko Ruopio, Sales Director of Parmaco.

Facilities will be designed to fulfill the demands of new learning environments as well as Lahti’s requirements. The first loan period will be four years.  After that the deal includes options for three biennial extensions. The city may decide about the continuation flexibly according to their needs.

– The loaned school will replace an old and malfunctioning building. Lahti has made a wise choice and taken a time-out with repairs and also with building a brand-new school. Often these kinds of repairs are very costly and there are no guarantees that they will be successful.  According to our philosophy all buildings are not worth repairing. For the city it’s more economical to move forward flexibly by loaning buildings so that they’ll always have a suitable amount of facilities for their needs, Ruopio clarifies.
