The history of the motor racetrack is on display at Keimolanmäki
Keimolanmäki is located in Vantaa, right next to Hämeenlinnanväylä. In 2015, construction began on a new residential area for 2,500 people on the site where the famous Keimola racetrack was once located. In the heart of the area, Lincolninaukio, named after the founder of the racetrack, the day care centre was completed in the autumn.
2019: A combined school and day care centre building supplied by Parmaco.
The Keimolanmäki day care centre can accommodate 168 children. The Keimolanmäki branch of Aurinkokivi School can accommodate about 200 primary school-age pupils. The building consists of two two-storey sections connected by an arched corridor. The corridor houses common facilities such as a sports hall and a canteen, which was named Restaurant Paalupaikka in the competition.
“The spaces surprised us in a positive way. It’s spacious and the adaptability of the space makes it multipurpose. In particular, the corridors and toilets are generously proportioned. The materials feel high quality and the glass doors, for example, add to the sense of space. I appreciate the wisdom of the designers of these spaces. They support the implementation of the new early childhood education plan very well.”
Terhi Joki, Director of Keimolanmäki Day Care Centre.
